This is Ben

I wanted to Clear my name and my reputation.  Some of the comments posted by Bridget are accurate. A few of the comments may have been taken out of context!!  On a serious note....  Bridget has been a true friend to Alice and I.  She is the reason this blog is here and how  are friends and family can stay updated!  Yes, the sofa/bed wasn't very comfortable. Anyone that knows me will say that the world doesn't revolve around me.  We wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Fast Track...

Alice is on the fast track to recovery. She was able to rest well last night. She is her chipper upbeat self today- amazing. Her assignment for the day is to begin eating. There is even talk that she will be moved to a room on the floor later this afternoon. Not sure if that decision is strictly medical or perhaps more situational -ICU may not be the ideal environment for the Ben and Bill Show!?!? Just wondering... BTW... Ben wants everyone to know,  he is ok - not great, just ok -  he reports not sleeping all that well last night.   He was disappointed to learn there wasn't an actual bed for spouses and room service wasn't available.  The looks of the hospital does lead you think you are in a hotel so I think his expectations where 5 star service.  Reality can be hard.  He is looking for eye cream to hide the bags under his eyes as he needs his beauty rest!

The important thing is Alice is doing great and the cancer is GONE - Long GONE - not even a trace of it!!!

It is Alice, so...

Forget lala land - Alice was awake and visiting in the ICU. I guess she got lots of rest today! I am shocked but it is Alice and she is amazing!

A LOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG Day..

It has been a long day of waiting but she is out and did great! Ben will see her tonight but she will probably enjoy lala land most of the night and into tomorrow. A great day but a very long day. Huge day in Bauderland!!!

A few updates...

We are 2 hours into surgery with the plastics team.  They are starting with the tummy saving the tissue for the next round.  They expect Alice to have all their attention for the next 6 hours in the OR.  The nurses are updating hourly and it has been totally uneventful.  The plan for the next few days is: recovery in ICU for 2 days, then to a room on the floor and then home Monday or Tuesday.

The waiting room is enjoying/enduring music by Bill.   Caroline has her ear buds in to escape that sound, Gepaw is doing yoga to alleviate back pain from sitting listening to the music and Ben is impersonating Bill.  Good times!

No CANCER in this mama...

So the update is.... First surgery is complete and went well. Uneventful - which is the best kind of surgery! They can't find the tumor, the lymph nodes are all clear and the treatments of hercepetin has wiped out any and all cancer that exisited!!! Meaning this mama is cancer FREE - yipee! The plastic surgeon is now doing his thing and she will be out in a few hours. Oh, happy day!!

Today is the DAY.............

It's surgery day!  Not exciting in everyday terms but super exciting in terms of getting rid of cancer!  Ben and Alice had to be at the hospital at 6:00 am this morning and they rolled her back at 7:30 - first surgery of the day.  They estimated she would be done around 11:00 this morning.  We will update through out the day.

This big event is at Methodist in Sugar Land.  Ben is there waiting -as that is what the waiting room is for - with his identical twin, Bill and Alice's dad.  Ben and Bill are sure to entertain that room and probably the entire hospital.  Hopefully, Gepa can keep them under control.  So the Ben and Bill Show is in progress meanwhile dr's are doing there magic on sweet Alice!
